In "Sovereign," a meditating figure in shimmering metallic pink sits against deep royal purple, hands resting in mudra. A large gold lotus rises behind it like a crown, and a smaller glitter lotus blooms at its base, grounding the figure in something rooted and luminous. An ornate gold border frames the whole scene, like the edge of an illuminated page. For me, this piece is about the dignity of sitting fully in yourself: calm, unhurried, and whole.
Part of the Lotus Series by Hudson Valley artist Jodi Carlson. Paper collage, 2026. 16” x 16"" fine art print, open edition.
