In "Jubilee," a meditating figure cut from a photograph of rippling water sits at the still center of a wild, joyful field of hot pink splashed with aqua, coral, and yellow. Two rings of turquoise glitter lotuses circle around her like a celebration. The ripples move outward from her center, the way calm spreads through the body in meditation, while all around her the color bursts with energy. For me, this piece holds both at once: stillness within, festivity all around.
Part of the Lotus Series by Hudson Valley artist Jodi Carlson. Paper collage, 2026. 16” x 16" fine art print, open edition.
